Year 6 Transition to Brookfield 2022
Brookfield’s new Y7s joined us on July 11th for the start of their two week transition. On the first day, the students spent the morning with Mrs Allan our transition lead, we were super impressed with how smart they looked, wearing their Brookfield uniform and house ties with pride. They discussed how they were feeling, a mixture of nervousness and excitement from most. Over the next few day all Y7s took part on some team building exercises and a house badge art attack. They have enjoyed attending all subjects as part of their transition, making keyrings in design technology, projects in history and reading sessions in the junior library. On Friday 15th Y7s took part in the whole school sports day, starting with end ball in the morning, where the house chants could be heard for miles around, Froggatt even had their own dance with Mrs Ashley leading the moves! In the afternoon, a whole year relay race was run for over an hour, Mr White coordinated the event and every Y7 had their part to play in the challenge.
In the second week of transition, the Y7 completed the CATS assessments, their Accelerated reading tests and attended all their timetabled lessons independently. On Thursday 21st they were treated to a special performance of the summer showcase in the main hall. We have been blown away by our new Y7s commitment to their transition, showing drive and determination to develop their independence and resilience, becoming part of the Brookfield community, a huge well done to the next generation, looking forward to seeing you all in September.
