Brookfield students’ charity fun run in the sun!
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning, six athletic Year 12 students conquered the Peak FM 5 mile run, with their Head of Year, Mr Cameron, just about keeping up. Thomas Lane finished fastest, with a time under 40 minutes, and was closely followed by the other Year 12 competitors: Fraser Martin, Andrea Haslehurst, Jack Hutton, and Abbie Ryan-Edwards. In addition, one particularly eager student – Evangeline Hurley – took an ill-advised scenic detour, completing part of the half-marathon course before doubling back. Following early estimates, it looks like the students have raised over £200 for the Sixth Form charity drive, with all money being split between Ashgate Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Mr Cameron said, after getting his breath back, “The students really hit the ground running by raising sponsorship, then stayed the course and have seen it over the finish line with the huge amount raised. It’s incredibly gratifying to see their passion for putting in the miles to raise money for worthy causes.” The run was just the first charity event of several planned by the Sixth Form students this year. You can bet there’s more to come with their track record!
