Admission Appeals and Coronavirus (Covid-19) update

School is currently closed for most pupils, until further notice and the government is advising us all to stay at home as far as possible.  We understand that parents’ admission appeals are very important to them and their families but we need to protect the health of parents, school representatives, the volunteer appeals panel members and all those involved in admission appeals.  As a result there may be unavoidable delays this year in hearing the appeals. We are constantly monitoring government guidance on how admission appeals can be considered under their published process in the current extraordinary and turbulent circumstances. We shall update parents as soon as we can.

In the meantime, parents should still submit their appeals by the deadline of 31st March.  Appeals submitted after this deadline will be heard but probably not within the first batch of appeals, once scheduled.

Please check this website on a regular basis as we continue to review and plan accordingly.

Exam advice for Year 13 from Redhill Academy Trust

Here is an update based on the latest information from the Government:

You will not be taking any exams this summer, but you will be awarded a grade for each of your A levels. These grades will be formal grades, with the same status as grades awarded in any other year.

How will this happen?

We will use a variety of information: mock exams, common deadline, class work, homework, assessments and coursework to make as realistic a judgement as possible, which will then be submitted as your grade.

The exam regulator will carefully moderate these grades to ensure they are accurate and fair and then they will award the grade.

You will then be awarded your grades in the summer, and these will be used by universities and other providers to confirm places as usual.

What if you don’t agree with the grade?

There will be an appeal process and the opportunity to take an exam later in the year, or in summer 2021.

What should I do now?

  1. Complete all work/homework set by your teachers via SMHW. You must check this daily and keep in regular contact with staff.
  2. Ensure you finish the syllabus/course and keep all notes and revision materials safe (you may need these in the future).
  3. Complete extra work to prepare for university/ apprenticeships. Please see the “Sixth Form Independent Study Guide” for extra work in all subjects. Your university may send you prep work/reading lists late in the summer. The best advice is to complete a MOOC via the Futurelearn website. These are free online courses on a variety of topics offered by universities around the world. They will keep you active and really help maintain good study habits ready for September.

What about my university place?

Universities will accept your grade with the same status as any other year.

They will be flexible and supportive, and will be sending you information directly.

Do not rush into accepting an unconditional offer (some universities are now changing offers to unconditional). Wait for all offers and make a careful considered choice before the UCAS deadline (remember this date is different for each student).

Please do not worry!

23/3/2020 - 5:00pm

Huge thanks to our parents and carers who found ways to keep their children at home today. We have small numbers in school today which makes stopping the spread of the virus much easier. The day started with a briefing for students regarding social distancing, the importance of regular hand-washing and how the day would run.  Supervised sessions then took place where students worked on Show My Homework, completing work set by teachers. After lunch they had a more active Art session.  Many thanks to all staff who were present today and helped ensure a smooth and purposeful day for students. Thank you.

20/3/2020 - 6:30pm

GCSE and A Level Exams – Summer 2020

As you may know Ofqual, the exams regulator, have announced today how they plan to award grades to students in Year 13 and Year 11 this summer.

They will calculate a grade for each student which reflects their performance, working with the exam boards and teachers. We are awaiting further guidance in this matter. Please see the link below:

Dear Parent/Carer

Brookfield will be closed from Monday 23rd March, but we are arranging provision for the children of key workers.  This provision is for key workers who will be prevented from fulfilling their role because either both parents are key workers, or they are a lone parent.

First, we need to find out how many children will need provision. If you require your child(ren) to attend school from Monday 23rd March and are a key worker, and have not already informed us by text message, please let us know today by emailing:
