Meet our Alumni

At Brookfield Community School, we are dedicated to supporting our students every step of the way. We don’t just educate for today - we educate for life. Watching our students grow and flourish is at the heart of what we do. As each cohort leaves and new ones join, our school family continues to expand. Former students remain an integral part of our community and always hold a special place in our hearts.

If you are a former student, we would love to hear about your journey and the experiences that shaped you. We believe the bond with our alumni should last long after you’ve left, and we’re always excited to reconnect with you. Sharing your story with our current students is an invaluable way to inspire and motivate them. Your achievements can help raise their expectations and broaden their horizons, showing them the incredible career opportunities that lie ahead.

Beth - Brookfield Alumni

My name is Beth, and I studied Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at Brookfield. I also completed an EPQ, and I achieved AAAA last year.

I am now studying Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Surrey which has been a dream come true. My first year has been amazing, filled with interesting lectures and a lot of hands-on experience, such as live lambing!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the university experience as well, as I have gained so much independence and have made some fantastic friends. I have always dreamt of being a Vet, and now that dream is becoming a reality. I am so grateful for the support that I received during my time at Brookfield, which has helped me get to this point.

Michael - Brookfield Alumni

Hello, I’m Michael. I attended Brookfield from 2011 until 2019 where I studied Maths, Physics, and Product design at A-Level. After Brookfield I attended The University of Nottingham where I studied Mechanical Engineering.

While at university, I joined Formula Student, a team that designs and builds mini-Formula 1 cars. I helped create the university’s first aerodynamics package and explored metal 3D printing, which is an exciting new way to make car parts! After spending a year working in industry, I returned to Nottingham to complete my master’s degree.

Now, I’m lucky enough to work at McLaren Automotive - a dream come true! As part of the Graduate Scheme, I get to rotate through different engineering teams, learning how cars are designed and built while deciding where I want to specialise. So far, I’ve worked in crash testing, ensuring our cars are safe, and electrical systems design, defining how different parts of the car communicate with each other. Soon, I’ll explore areas like aerodynamics, powertrain, and suspension.

One of the coolest projects I’ve worked on is the W1, McLaren’s brand-new £2 million supercar! It’s amazing to be part of a team that’s shaping the future of high-performance cars.

Georgia - Brookfield Alumni

Hi, I’m Georgia, and I’m proud to say I attended Brookfield from Year 7 all the way through to Year 13, completing both my GCSEs and A Levels there.

It was at Brookfield that my journey as a football referee first began. The school supported me to complete my referee qualification, funding my course in exchange for helping to officiate school matches, an opportunity that would go on to shape so much of my future.

At the time, I imagined a career in sport. But after finishing my A Levels, circumstances changed and I began an apprenticeship with a local accountancy firm in Chesterfield. In 2020 I qualified as a Certified Chartered Accountant.

While building my career, I never let go of my passion for sport. I continued to referee and go through promotions, and that same year I qualified as an accountant, I also earned promotion to officiate in the Women’s Championship and Women’s Super League.

From there, things moved quickly. In May 2023, I had the incredible honour of officiating the Women’s FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium, a moment I’ll never forget. Just weeks later, I was part of the first all female team of officials to take charge at Soccer Aid, another milestone for women in the game.

Then, in December 2023, I was promoted to the FIFA list of Assistant Referees, giving me the chance to represent my country and officiate matches around the world. Since then, I’ve been privileged to referee in international friendlies, the Women’s Champions League, and the Women’s Nations League.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities that started at Brookfield, the encouragement and the support and I would not be where I am today without that.

Bryn - Brookfield Alumni

Hello, I’m Bryn. I studied at Brookfield Sixth Form, but my journey into tech started much earlier, back in 2009 when I was just 11, taking apart my grandad’s old PC to figure out how it worked. That curiosity led to building gaming PCs, and eventually to formal qualifications in IT Professional, Networking, and Apple Technician training.

I started aGeek with my dad in 2009 at 11 Years Old, and it’s grown into a Chesterfield-based national (and now international) repair and IT solutions business. We don’t just fix computers and laptops, we repair almost anything electronic, from phones and consoles to the occasional obscure gadget. We also build custom gaming rigs and develop web tools to make tech more useful and accessible.

Every year, we offer work experience placements to Brookfield students, which is genuinely one of the highlights of running the business. It’s brilliant to see young people get hands-on with real repairs and discover how broad and exciting the tech world can be.
